Time is of the essence. So why waste it when you can profit a vast amount of money and be the boss of your own company at the same time? For those who seek success beyond unimaginable boundaries, entrepreneurship would be the answer. Probably this is what’s running inside the minds of the renowned entrepreneurs of our economic era. Empowered by determination and guts and eliminating the process of failure, an entrepreneur should always be on the grasp for suitable products to suffice the masses. This paved their way through stability, fame and power. Take it from these Top 5 personalities who gained so much from starting so small. Focus on their step by step challenges and experiences.

Bill Gates. As a billionaire dropout not finishing his education during his junior year at Harvard University, Gates is considered as one of the most famous individuals of our time. With a vision of personal computers emerging out of the mainstream, he teamed out with his colleague, Paul Allen who also studied in Harvard. Together, both of them left the university in exchange for a dream that led them both to their multibillion business, Microsoft Corporation.

Oprah Winfrey. At a very young age of 19, Oprah started her anchoring career for a TV station situated in Nashville, Tennessee. From there, she pursued her dream and traveled to Chicago. Not more than a month, The Oprah Winfrey Show was born and talk show was never the same. Surpassing other local networks, it was tagged as one of the best talk shows that entered national television. Sam Walton. Does Walmart and Sam’s Club ring a bell? Thanks to the undying loyalty of Sam Walton to achieving a retail business not benefiting only himself but also his fellow Americans, everyone can live like everyone else.

Ray Kroc. Mr. Hamburger guy here who once made a living as a milk-shake man envisioned a fast food company that can deliver quality service in the name of chow time. As evidence, these renowned entrepreneurs made everything possible just by living up to their dream of becoming someone everybody could appreciate and look up to. Starting from scratch, but reaching to this point of earning so much cash. You too could be an entrepreneur. Point is, when you dream, dream big.

I came across this news on bbc.com titled, UN gets Israeli cluster bomb maps. The title intrigued me to read the whole. According to bbc.com, the UN says Israel used some four million cluster bomblets on Lebanon, of which about a quarter did not explode. Most of the cluster bomblets were fired in the last 72 hours of the 33-day war with Hezbollah in Lebanon in July and August 2006. According to the UN Mine Action Coordination Centre, about 300 civilians have since been killed or maimed by left-over munitions. majority of the victims were children, often from rural areas in south Lebanon, who had used the bomblets as toys.

Close to 300 children became victims of Israeli cluster bombs and not even a word of condemning Israel from anyone. Where are the human rights organizations now. Why aren’t they bringing this up on every forum. Aren’t these children human. To rescue eight soldiers Israel killed 300 innocent children.

CNN.com had a little story about Mohammad Hajj Mousa who lost both of his legs because of a cluster bomb. According to CNN, War was raging in southern Lebanon at the time. Muhammad and his father thought there was some sort of ceasefire in place, so they felt relatively safe. That is, until the motorcycle hit an obstacle on the road. The detonation of the cluster bomb set Muhammad’s body on fire. He made it to the river and the Red Cross volunteers pulled him from the water.

The Moussas are one of many families of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon. Bassam Singer is an orthopedic specialist, who is working to help the victims of cluster bombs recover a semblance of normalcy.

The 2009 Victorian Bushfire Fund to assist individuals and communities affected by devastating bushfires in Victoria has been launched by the Premier John Brumby in partnership with Red Cross and the Federal Government. Queen Bee Maternity Pty Ltd has generously donated $2,000 to help families affected by this crisis.

Facts to date:

More than 180 lives lost with the number expected to increase as authorities access more homes and discover vehicles in which people attempted to escape the fires. Our biggest role now is personal support, offering assistance to people returning home and coming to terms with the magnitude of the disaster.

Currently we are involved in the response phase providing temporary accommodation and food in 18 evacuation centres. We have registered more than 10,000 people in person, and provided thousands of first aid treatments. We have a team at Kinglake and Whittlesea helping with medical requirements, food and name registration so family and friends know they are safe and well. Our team is also offering personal support as this is going to be a very difficult time for people affected.

People from around Australia and around the world are phoning through to our Inquiry Centre to check on family and friends. Volunteers who are trained in personal support are relaying heartwarming as well as heartbreaking, stories as the calls come in.

Our Inquiry Centre has taken more than 17,000 enquiries with more than 11,000 people registered.

Over 400 volunteers and staff continue to work in rotating shifts. Red Cross call centres in WA, ACT and NSW have opened to help deal with the volume of calls from people checking on the welfare of evacuees.

So come on guys – despite the gloom of the economic crisis I’m sure that other Australian businesses out there can afford to donate too. Other parts of the world will be surprised to know how Australians come together in times like these with over $85 million raised to date….
